PostSubject: (Ejio, Akira, Koutetsu) The Party aka Don't fucking kill anyone   (Ejio, Akira, Koutetsu) The Party aka Don't fucking kill anyone EmptyWed Nov 04, 2015 3:47 pm

Twilight overtook the city, casting shadows across the streets and buildings in a haphazard manner. Only the Tower House, which stood isolated, cast a distinct path of darkness that led to itself. The area around the building had been decorated and made more lively since Doji Ejio took control of the establishment but a building made for security could only be brightened up so much. Still, the broken crenellations and slight tilt had been shored up and made too look intentional instead of neglected and the entrance itself seemed like a promise of safety to those who approached.
The guests all arrived with plenty of time as the invitations gave very specific instructions to arrive on time or be left out of the performance portion of the party. Ejio could see it on some of the faces he greeted that they were unaccustomed to adhering to such requests but they dared not risk being left out when the Imperial Advisor himself was attending without complaint. Their guards had already inspected the tower and found it infuriating, but safe and now were stationed along the perimeter to ensure it stayed that way. Even still, Kakita Koutetsu, the former Executioner was stationed inside along with the Emerald Magistrate Kuni Akira. An odd set of guards to be sure but none could doubt their skill or effectiveness.

“Welcome, my friends, to my humble establishment. Hopefully it can manage to exude the humility that I obviously do not.”

Doji Ejio’s voice lifted above the crowd, settling it into eventual silence as he continued over the smattering of polite chuckles.

“It is a pleasure to see all of you here. It is my sincerest hope that tonight proves to be something that you speak of for years to come with wistful nostalgia and a twinge of regret that the moment is gone. However, first I must acknowledge that I could not do this by myself. There are countless others who helped me but one in particularly provided not just support and resources, but also inspiration. She has been helping to secure safety and prosperity for the residents in a place that I still call home and will always have a fond place in my heart, the Jurumashi. She also commissioned this piece in honor of one of our guests, the honorable Asako Yoshenga.”

A minute gesture summoned two servants who brought forward a table bearing an item covered with exquisite red silk that shimmered white when it moved. The conflict of color seemed appropriate for who the gift was meant for, a mixing of life and death in a shimmering cycle of rebirth.  Once the table settled, Ejio reached forward and removed the cloth, handing it to a servant as the crowd looked upon the revealed sculpture. A fire stood frozen, the detail almost startling.

There were a few murmurs as they discussed the piece but Yoshenga remained quiet, sensing that the moment was not over just yet. Or even revealed. The Crane host smirked and reached town to the table and lightly pushed. With almost no resistance the table top began to spin and revealed what Yoshenga had been waiting for.  The flames began to dance in a mesmerizing fashion. In the center, a face could be seen peering out at the crowd. With the way that the flame spun and danced, it appeared young then mature, then old before starting again at young, the flames ever dancing between the faces. The unrehearsed gasps were all the Crane needed to be certain that the crowd was suitably entranced and impressed.

On cue, Ide Tenseko stepped from the crowd and addressed the Imperial Advisor in her sultry tone, “My lord Advisor, it is with the greatest respect that I offer this transcendent display of art to you, may it bring the same honor and admiration with which it is offered.”

Yoshenga took his eyes away from the flickering flames as they spun and let his eyes flicker only briefly to the Artisan before settling on the woman in purple before him. Her beauty was alluring, the cut of her kimono emphasizing her curves in a barely appropriate way. It was easy to see how the weaker willed would crumble at her touch. And why even the stronger willed may be willing to.

“I am honored by the offer but this piece deserves a more worthy recipient than myself. I must refuse, Lady Tenseko.”

The Ide bowed her head slightly and returned softly, “The sculpture is but a reflection of my consideration, Yoshenga-sama. There is no greater place for it to reside than wherever you decide.”

The Asako replied with his final refusal, “My Lady Ide, wherever I chose would be insufficient to the task of properly displaying these flames. I simply do not have an artisan’s eye for such things.”

“Then accept along with the art, the guidance of the hand that crafted it. I have no doubt that Doji Ejio would be happy to help find a place for his masterpiece to be properly displayed,” Tenseko replied with her final offer.

Yoshenga bowed in response and acceptance of the final offer, saying at last, “I shall accept your offer, Ide Tenseko. It will become a cherished possession of the Phoenix, displayed with Ejio-san’s guidance and expertise within the Father’s Home.”

The host of the party bowed in response to the ritual and as a sign of its conclusion before taking over the proceedings. With a gesture, another table was brought in covered by strips of fine silk. Each was uniquely embroidered and quickly evident that they were individualized for each of the guests. It had been simple for the Crane to reach out to the finest tailors and request these items. It was a favor granted and a favor returned at the same time with such distinguished citizens being introduced to work of the tailors that offered their assistance.

“Tonight we will mix the senses, guide you down a journey unlike any other you have experienced and demonstrate the power of art to move the soul… without showing you a thing.”

Doji Ejio’s voice demonstrated the immense training he had received, drawing in the crowd with the nuances and mystery. He gestured at the table with the strips of silk and geisha began to file into the room, one for each guest. Each of the performers grabbed a piece of cloth and carried it to the intended recipient.

“Of course, I would not have you risk injury ambling blindly through the Tower so I have asked for some assistance in guiding you through the performance. You may speak with them as you wish but they are barred from answering one question. They may not tell you what they see.”
With that final word, the geisha took the silk pieces and tied them in place to cover their partner’s eyes. Small gestures were made to ensure that sight was truly removed before the girls nodded to their patron that it was done. Nodding in return, Doji Ejio slipped to the front of the group and replaced the geisha Ohana who stood beside Tenseko, taking the woman’s hand. He grinned as a smile spread across the small Ide’s lips, guiding her toward the first room as the geisha began drawing along the rest of the guests.

Each room was scented differently, starting with an airy scent that brought to mind freedom and vast openness. It changed frequently to earthy, sweet, and even charred depending on the room. The cloth that lined the walls constantly changed in texture and strength, explored by the guests in motions guided by the geisha. Some were heavy silks, others light but course, each eliciting a different sensation from the fingertips that touched them. Even the sounds shifted, throughout the strange performance, some of the guests startling at the violence of a heavy crash, only the calm reassurance of the geisha preventing them from removing their blindfolds. By the end, Ejio could hear the murmurs of the party goers as some figured out the story they were being told and others openly mused to their guides about the entire experience.

When the performance drew to a close, the guests were led to a final room and guided to sit around a table, still blindfolded and accompanied by their geisha companion.

“Every sense has been used tonight, from the visuals at the start, to the touch of silks and skin beneath our fingertips.”

Ejio emphasized his words with a squeeze of Tenseko’s hand.

“All but one and since I am a man of my word, I shall rectify that. I have a very special artisan this evening here to treat you to something that words are unlikely to be sufficient to describe. Not that I won’t inevitably try, anyways.”

Another nod and the room was granted to his final artisan, Kuni Akira to display his unique skill.

(Ejio, Akira, Koutetsu) The Party aka Don't fucking kill anyone Empty
PostSubject: Re: (Ejio, Akira, Koutetsu) The Party aka Don't fucking kill anyone   (Ejio, Akira, Koutetsu) The Party aka Don't fucking kill anyone EmptyFri Nov 06, 2015 11:01 am

The pageantry with which Doji Ejio had crafted this experience was truly remarkable. While an opulent evening would have drawn Akira's ire, tonight was something else entirely. No doubt it could only be crafted by a Crane, but it was done with such a precise and delicate touch that Akira couldn't help but be drawn in himself. His companion had done something remarkable this night, and more to the point, had honored the Crab by requesting he craft sushi for these dignitaries.

As the geisha guided their blindfolded charges into position, Akira couldn't help but smile on the inside. For the first time since arriving in Otosan Uchi, he had dressed himself in his finery. Identical in color and pattern to his normal attire, he thought these silk robes would be better received by such attendees. He enjoyed the irony that they were all now blindfolded.

Akira began his preparations, seeking out the kami to steady his hand and refine his decision-making ability. Following his lunch with Doji Ejio some weeks prior (what he realized now had been an audition of sorts), he had chosen to again provide swordfish but with a twist that would work beautifully realizing now that his guests could not see.

The Kuni kept his voice low and measured as he prayed to the fire kami. He knew full well he did not have the mind for theatrics that Ejio did, but hoped he could enhance the experience for their honored guests. As he worked the swordfish with his knife, he made a point to scratch the steel against stone, or cut with a touch more effort. Nothing that would betray the quality of his work, but just enough to provide an interesting sensory experience. (Spell Casting (Mental Quickness))

Complimenting the swordfish, Akira had chosen to also serve thin slices of eel. Unlike what he had presented to Ejio, these pieces of sushi would have a bite of eel at the center of the rice, with the glazed swordfish on top. In addition, Akira had chosen to reverse what he chose to heat and keep cool. He used the coals and his stone plates to warm the rice by itself. He focused intently on the cereal, waiting until each bite would likely be marginally too warm for comfort. He then wrapped a handful of rice around a cool cut of eel and, once formed, applied the swordfish and his traditional glaze, knowing the fish would cool the rice just enough before being consumed.

Since arriving in Otosan Uchi, the chef had experimented with some ingredients he did not have ready access to in his previous life. As such, he had augmented his typical recipe to include juice from the yuzu. He enjoyed the tart dimension it added to the glaze and, since the glaze sat atop the rest, the pleasant citrus aroma that would greet the food's recipient as he or she anticipated the taste to come.

A gentle spread of the warmed glaze now sat atop a cool piece of swordfish. The fish, in turn, rested upon a hot but cooling mold of rice with a bite of eel hidden at its core. He had crafted his meal with the intent that the interplay of textures and temperatures would illuminate one's taste buds. He regarded Doji Ejio's decision to remove sight from the intended recipients to be nothing short of genius. The Crab's face was unresponsive, but inside he was excited. He hoped his craft would bring glory for his friend Ejio and help the man advance whatever agenda lay at the heart of the evening's festivities.

With each plate now ready, the shugenja whispered a soft prayer to the water spirits that they might elevate Akira's work into something truly indescribable. (Commune (Water))

(Ejio, Akira, Koutetsu) The Party aka Don't fucking kill anyone Empty
PostSubject: Re: (Ejio, Akira, Koutetsu) The Party aka Don't fucking kill anyone   (Ejio, Akira, Koutetsu) The Party aka Don't fucking kill anyone EmptySat Nov 07, 2015 5:36 am

The Crane swordsmith carried himself with the dignity of a ghost: neither seen nor heard, yet hauntingly present amidst the early parts of the part. Ashidaka Koutetsu had waited within the tower with a sense of unease. He had been extremely concerned about his presence at the event after the events that transpired within the forge. In fact, he had attended Ejio privately to reveal the breadth of his scars and express his woes regarding seeing the Lady Keppon. In his own eyes, he was nothing short of a monster. Koutetsu would never be the same and the physical transformation had ran deep.

The sounds of the arriving guests below had drawn his attention as he loitered within the upper floors of the tower. He had sat quietly within a room, even having removed himself far from the eyes of the Crab, Kuni Akira. A mask was held in his lap as he contemplated leaving the party altogether. He could readily feign illness or some other excuse, could he not? Koutetsu had resolved himself to stay yet each waking moment was a burden he labored to endure, despite how conflicted his soul had become. However, in the end he had found the courage to don the mask and present himself to a sightless crowd - a task he found bearable due to how Ejio had orchestrated the event.

After Ejio had his flock of attending geisha blindfold his guests, Koutetsu had emerged from the upper stories of the tower. In the traditional fashion of a great Crane lord, his attire was nothing short of exquisite. The finest bolts of silk were cut for a warrior's frame, draping him in the latest fashions being extolled in the Imperial City. His hair was immaculately cleaned, combed and tied up beneath a tall, stiff eboshi (or what was left of his hair on the burned side of his body). A hand crafted mask - made by the delicate hands of Ejio himself - formed to the scarred half of his face and was designed in such a way that feathers were painted onto the mask mirror the deep rivulets of burned flesh. His throat was otherwise carefully wrapped to attempt to hide his disfigurement as was the exposed length of his forearm and hand.

As the attending guard of the event, Koutetsu carried his daisho to serve the guests within. The sword at his hip, the red ruddy Twilight Mountain blade, rested in its sheath and only added to the macabre presence he wielded. As the guests were then led throughout the estate, Koutetsu had moved to avoid the passage of the blinded guests and kept a discerning eye on everyone within. With the disappearance of Bayushi Akedare, he contemplated if the coward were hiding beneath their noses - this night would be a fine opportunity to strike out at them if he had the nerve to do so, surrounded by as many guards as he were.

Finally, after the fantastic journey that begged to the sense, the guest were paraded before the Crab sushi chef and he took his watch within the chamber behind the gathered guests. His eyes flickered from Ejio to Akira before the man began to create his art. Koutetsu observed with silent wonder how the man could beseech the kami and so artfully craft the beautiful and no doubt exquisite meal before him. Where sighs were removed, the guests had to rely on their senses of touch, smell and hearing only to culminate in an exploration of taste. Koutetsu partially felt disappointed he could not partake but his own quarry was worth the sacrifice.

It would be when the guests were served and his own very special guest had the opportunity to enjoy the Kuni's delights he would pluck her away. Koutetsu indicated to a geisha to collect the Lady Keppon as not to draw unwanted attention to himself. The attending servant of the Imperial Princess whispered quietly into the Miya's ear before discreetly escorting her away from the gathered guests to secret her away with no one the wiser. It would be as the Imperial was escorted up the stairs that he joined the two and soon after replaced the geisha entirely. Koutetsu wordlessly took her arm as they ascended the flights of steps together to become lost within the towering confines of the Tower House.

On the uppermost floor, in a room arranged for the tryst (as Ejio had playfully referred to their meeting as) Koutetsu had shown the Lady Keppon inside. The closing of the door behind them served a sense of finality and Koutetsu released her arm and stepped aside with a light exhale. He collected that she were a clever enough woman to know that it was indeed him who had taken over her escort. So, he played to her sense of intellect and took her hand in a taboo gesture. The Crane placed her hand within his own and walked her forward and knelt upon a cushion and offered to help her sit down in turn.

"With your sight robbed of you," the Crane spoke in a low, tempered voice, "What senses tonight have you found yourself in value of most?"

PostSubject: Re: (Ejio, Akira, Koutetsu) The Party aka Don't fucking kill anyone   (Ejio, Akira, Koutetsu) The Party aka Don't fucking kill anyone EmptyThu Nov 12, 2015 10:12 pm

Posted on TheDiddler's behalf.

As the guests moved blind, guided by gentle hands, Doji Ejio noted a slow evolution in their movements. Each step brought a new sensation and the longer the guests were guided the more they came to rely upon their careful guardians. Trust blossomed and before long the guests were using their geisha servants as extensions of their own bodies.

Ejio noted with a smirk the disappearance of Miya Keppon and Ashidaka Koutetsu as the Crab chef worked his craft. He noted the whispered comments between excited guests and knew already that this event would live up to his expectations. The nobles of Otosan Uchi were rarely surprised  and even less often in such a pleasant fashion.

Through it all Ejio felt a calm sense of victory. No violence would occur this evening. Only peace and art prevailed and – Ejio glanced once more to the hidden door through which Keppon had vanished – perhaps love?

Yet the Crane could not help the nagging feeling that the evening was not perfect.

Akira felt it too. As deft hands flensed flesh and scale, manipulated rice, and molded the food into perfect shape, he could feel a strange quality to the air. Not hostile, exactly. Instead, he felt it as awareness added. A presence  not seen, yet felt.

Doji Ejio’s eyes were drawn to the Imperial Advisor. The man’s arm rested in the offered appendage of the respected geisha like all the others. His blindfold had not been removed. His steps were guided and certain.

Absolutely certain.

With sudden realization, Doji Ejio realized that the Imperial Advisor was not blind. The man moved with too much certainty. His head tilted, ears in the direction of the hidden door down which the Princess vanished. When Akira began to slice, he did not startle as did the others. Or, at least not immediately. He flinched half-a-second after the fact.

Feigned.

Akira felt the presence in the air as he guided food to mouth, art to recipient, and could not shake an unquiet feeling of being watched. Observed by some mystic source.

*****

Miya Keppon followed, a knowing smile on her perfectly crafted features.

“Is it often you blindfold your ladies? A most exciting turn of events, Kakita-san. I must say I do not often enjoy not being in control, but the sensation and clandestine nature of this engagement has me quivering in anticipation.”

Her tone was mocking and she slid a little too close, the heat of her warming Koutetsu’s flesh and reminding him of a different sort of fire.

“I am happy that you are either intelligent enough or connected enough to have deciphered my message. A point in your favor. Gather enough of them and you may see a prize.”

Without warning, Keppon dug her lacquered nails deep into Koutetsu’s flesh. Their sharp sting was enough to draw blood.

OOC: I particularly enjoy this exchange. I am going to reward all three players involved +1xp for the effort and you will see ramifications of this moving forward in the story. Logan, I’ll see what I can do for you since you were excluded. Damn Crane.

Kyle – Make a Willpower Roll to avoid flinching or crying out at Keppon’s little outburst.

Ejio nodded in respect to the Imperial Advisor, amused by the turn of events but not wholly surprised, either. To the best of his knowledge, none of the others had the same benefit that the Asako did but ultimately, there was nothing hidden tonight that the Advisor had reason to take interest in. A liaison between nobles was not that uncommon and rarely done quite so subtly yet brazenly. Ejio felt sure that the Yoshenga would approve, yet still file the information away.

In fact, the Doji actually felt kind of sad that the Yoshenga would lose some of the impact that those who were without sight felt by attending the event. Either way, it was a success. Perhaps he could find time when the night concluded to speak with the Imperial Advisor. For now, however, the show belonged to his friend, Akira while the night itself belonged to the pair who had disappeared.

With a shudder, he clenched his jaw and bared his teeth so he wouldn't cry out from the searing pain that shot through his arm. It was... Notably unexpected and he regarded her with a narrowed gaze. "I get the sense," the Crane quietly spoke as he licked his lips. "That you have very peculiar tastes... Fear, intimidation, pain... We have much to discuss, my Lady. However, given the current discourse of the environment I would advise against doing anything to announce our privacy to any of Lord Ejio's guests.

"Savy?"

The Regeant of the Ashidaka grasped her forearm with a strong hand as he prevented her from raking his flesh again. "I have enough scars currently... I would advise against spilling blood and giving me anything more to hide." She had not seen his face, his blemished body and the fiery scars from his fateful encounter with a god. The Ashidaka brought his face dangerous close to the blindfolded Miya and he whispered, "Easy."

That fire returned and he pulled away before it consumed him. The warrior was not without his needs and wants, but he needed to temper himself for her. For the sake of his family and future. However, it was not easy when he just wanted to... Give in.

He exhaled and shuddered again.

"Now, my dear Lady Keppon, I don't make it a point to blindfold ladies such as yourself but if you misbehave... You may find yourself in this situation more often."

A threat. A promise. A temptation.

PostSubject: Re: (Ejio, Akira, Koutetsu) The Party aka Don't fucking kill anyone   (Ejio, Akira, Koutetsu) The Party aka Don't fucking kill anyone EmptyWed Dec 16, 2015 1:05 am

Posted on TheDiddler's behalf.

Koutetsu heard the princess’s response as a low chuckle, deep in her throat. She made the effort to remain quiet, but the Ashidaka could feel he shaking with laughter.

“Oh, little Crane, I think you and I are going to make an entertaining match. Don’t let a little blood sway you and I won’t be bothered by your being in control.” She pressed against him once more and spoke in husky tones. “Lead on, Kakita. Lead on and show me what it means to bandy words with the likes of the House of Ashidaka.”

Keppon’s fierce grin told Koutetsu everything he needed to know about her sincerity. He could feel her interest, her desire.

“There is just one thing.” She paused, forcing him to stop as well. Her body became rigid and stately and she spoke with her chin held high. “I will not even consider a match to someone who allows his enemies to walk over him with such vigor. You must assure me that those who oppose you, those who might oppose me in the future, will suffer.”

*******

As Akira worked, Ejio heard the expected gasps of pleasure and surprise from the guests. He felt their amusement and their shock in equal measure. The night went well and would be remembered for months or years to come.

Only the Advisor seemed resistant. He had the same smile, the same general feel of pleasure, but Ejio could tell it was not the same. The man glided through the motions of the evening as if he expected all that occurred around him.

A cool breeze made its way into the tower. It passed the guests, held tight around the Imperial Advisor, blew his cloth tight against his body. He stumbled, briefly, and then the gust was gone.

Ejio and Akira each suffered an involuntary shudder.

"Do not mistake patience for weakness, my Lady," the Crane fairly growled as he tightened his grip on her forearm. "I am a man of honor despite my foibles and I will not rush headlong into every imagined slight. There are three men within this world who have earned my ire. When the time comes I will ensure they each suffer for their transgressions against me and my family. My deliberations are methodical; I will ensure when the time is right..."

He twisted her arm painfully to accent his words.

"...they will suffer as I have..."

He torqued her arm back further.

"...they will be shamed before the eyes of the Empire..."

He pinned her down, twisting her arm behind her. His breath was hot and ragged as his words dripped like molten slag. That unnatural fire within him was stoked and it reverberated with a teeming anger that threatened to overcome him.

"...and in their lamentations, they will regret ever crossing me..."

He released her arm and the growing, agonizing pain it was like to stir. Koutetsu sat up as he realized how compromised he had made Keppon in his passion - a passion derived from endless months of being treated like a child's toy or mere stone on a Go board. He panted and licked his lips as the rush of the moment sent him reeling back to reality. The Ashidaka swordsmith smirked all the while, undaunted. He dared to touch her face, brushing his fingertips across her perfect features.

"...not ever crime need be solved with my sword, Lady Keppon, but know I will not hesitate to draw it against those who would oppose you."

That she did not cry out was as much a testament of Keppon’s will as her endurance. She tolerated the pain, the twisted arm, the embarrassment of being forced to the floor.

All the while a smile played across her face. It was full of malice and joy in equal measure and when she rose, though her blindfold held in place, she turned to face the Ashidaka.

She stepped close, her sore arm hung limp at her side.

“Words and a brutal gesture to a blind woman in a safe, hidden locale. Words and meager action, Koutetsu.” Miya Keppon stepped close, closer than she should. The Crane felt the heat from her body, the light touch of her fingers on his flesh. He felt her heavily lacquered nails, almost as thick as wood slivers, across the back of his palm.

She leaned up to whisper into his ear. “Words and idle threats do not excite me. Your deeds have drawn me this close. Show me more. Tell me not that you will destroy your enemy. Instead, lay his head at my feet.”

Koutetsu felt her heavy nails slide up across his forearm even as her lips brushed his cheek. With a sudden movement, her teeth bit into his flesh hard enough to draw blood. Her middle finger flicked and Koutetsu felt a razor sharp sliver dig into his flesh.

“It wasn’t this time,” she rasped as she released his cheek and took a step backward. “But next time it will be poisoned. Touch me again without my permission, without my authority, without earning it, and you shall learn what it means to exact vengeance.”

The Imperial Princess brushed the wrinkles from her clothes, readjusted her blindfold, and held out her arm.

“I believe we are missing a party.”

What Koutetsu found within Keppon was a ball of deadly cunning, Imperial self importance, and a pride that could eclipse the light of Lady Sun. Her bite caught him off guard; all of her painful inclinations did and he wondered how Ejio attracted such an usual Lady. However, despite the pain there was a twisted sense of pleasure found within her violence that flirted with his curiosity. The Crane lordling found himself staring at her as he cleaned up the fresh blood she drew from his person. The blindfolded woman, as seemingly demure as a house cat, was notably possessed of fangs and claws.

"I owe you an apology," Koutetsu said after a time. "Here I thought I was wedding a mere maiden to raise the pedigree of my own station. Yet you are sharp as any sword I have forged, with a deadliness to go with it."

He smirked - a somewhat rare glimpse she would never see.

He would take her arm within his own after a time.

"Let us go," he said after he cleaned his wounds. "We have a party to return to, and I have a head to put at your feet."

“Praise and violent promise.” Keppon sidled close. Heat radiated from her soft body as Koutetsu took her arm. “Finally the Crane learns to speak with the poetry I crave.”

END SCENE (for this part at least)
