Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions] Empty
PostSubject: Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions]   Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions] EmptyThu Jul 28, 2016 5:59 pm

Following Game 4, the players were told that there would be a roughly 1 month(ish) downtime between Games 4 and 5 (after the Dragon encounter). You were asked to help add to the story by coming up with two good things that happened to your character during this time and one bad. The idea is for you to come up with as much detail as you'd like without just throwing in mechanical additions like a new artifact or five bonus levels.

Please post your answers below!

I'm going to give out some bonus experience for this as a reward, but only if everyone does it!

Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions]   Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions] EmptySat Jul 30, 2016 7:27 pm

GOOD THING, ONE
Doake arrived in the settlement of Salvana's Oasis as a representative of the Radiant Accords, a recently ratified agreement between the Jeweled Cities which strengthened their preexisting cooperative policies and outlined an aggressive plan to garner influence on the island of Merata.

The gnome was able to convince Halia Thornton, recently elected mayor of the settlement and already an agent of the Jeweled City of Beryl, to accept the title of Patrician under the auspices of the Radiant Accords, thereby making Salvana's Oasis the first territory claimed within Merata.

As Patrician, Thornton was now entitled to establish her own house and heraldry, and would be on equal footing with the peerage back in Rh'tea. She would also be expected to provide exemplary leadership for her subjects and to further the interests of the Radiant Accords within her territory.

GOOD THING, TWO
Patrician Thornton granted Doake the property of Salvana's Rest, a manor house in great disrepair (but with considerable potential). Doake would use the location to establish the headquarters of TRADING COMPANY.

Establishing the TRADING COMPANY solidified Doake's position in the eyes of the Radiant Accords, having previously been granted the rank of Burgher in anticipation of the deeds he would accomplish on the island. His mandate was to utilize commerce to expand the influence of the Jeweled Cities, and with the means to create a base of operations, he was now in a position to do just that.

BAD THING
Doake's first attempt at establishing a Patrician on Merata was a complete and utter failure. Try as he might, he was wholly unable to convince even a minority within the Charter of Gold in Port Town to side with the Jeweled Cities. He left the town defeated, unsure of his future, and wary that he may not deliver on his promises to powerful people back home.

Word recently reached Port Town of the new allegiance made by Patrician Thornton, and thus the success of Doake's devious plot (as described by members of the Charter). If Doake had irritated the group previously, he had now made an enemy of them.

Tension between Doake and the Charter are currently nowhere near inciting violence, but the bad blood between the two isn't likely to be ameliorated anytime soon.

NOTES
(A) "TRADING COMPANY" will be replaced as soon as I can think up a name.
(B) Rank Structure of the Radiant Accords includes the following:

PATRICIAN
A minor noble who governs a city-state beholden to the Radiant Accords.

FRANKLIN
A freeholder with rights and privileges above the peasantry and who may be called on by a local Patrician to aid in matters of governance.

BURGHER
A minor noble who conducts commerce and negotiates on behalf of the Jeweled Cities in Merata. They are tasked with expanding the influence of the Radiant Accords.

GRAND BURGHER
A noble who oversees all commerce with a region. This position is currently vacant on Merata.

Two Good, One Bad

One Bad

No longer Rok of the Kang'Chagga. Went to the tribe, talked to the second in command, Gorilla McFuckface, and discussed the impossibility of maintaining leadership and the unfairness to the tribe of having a non-GoGoGorilla as the leader. He agreed but was uncertain what to do. Agrykos told him to place his challenge for leadership. They fought, McFuckface fighting viciously immediately thinking that Agrykos was going to use magic. Agrykos did not. He stood his ground as best he could but with his weakened body, he stood no chance. McFuckface beat him badly, breaking Agrykos' left horn and exploding his eye with a punch. Nearly dead and expected to die, Agrykos asked McFuckface to take him to the Shrine to the Mistress in the Salvana's Oasis and he does so, leaving his broken, dying body and leaving. The Mistress tsked and reprimanded Agrykos in his dreams for being so careless but breathed life back into him once more. Agrykos went back to the tribe and they freaked the fuck out. He is now considered one of their holy men, a guide but no longer the leader. Whispers of the Mistress are spreading through the Kang'Chagga. Agrykos has a permanent limp and now requires a walking stick and an eyepatch.

One Good

For his service to the city, Agrykos has been given leave to found an adventuring house. It is built remarkably quickly and rivals the inn in size but it does not house common guests. For now, Agrykos is the only one who has a permanent room though he admittedly uses it on rare occasion. It has a board for the citizens to post jobs they need accomplished. Any who wish to stay in the house are subject to completing tasks as requested. It is also considered a secondary defense resource for the city, complete with a growing arsenal. There is a constant flow of information regarding the surrounding region and the forces that are around. It has the beginnings of a war/map room and a library to support operations that send adventurers out into the jungle and beyond. It works closely with the mayor's original archaelogical enterprise. Very closely. Giggity.

Two Good

The Shrine to the Mistress is doing well. It is separate from the Shrine of Whothefuckcares run by the Chaos elf. It does not see a lot of visitors but several of the new city guard and a few citizens have taken to placing offerings and giving prayers to the Mistress of Air and Darkness. She is treated not as evil or good, simply as being a power to be reckoned with and considered and occasionally asked favors of. Some hear her whispers, some do not. Agrykos can feel her growing stronger just as he felt her stronger once he got to the island versus when he was on the mainland. She is pleased, but still demands he find the Night's Diamond.

GOOD

Clues to the long lost jungle elf civilization is found in the nearby jungle. An array of terra cotta warriors fashioned from wood of the ancient jungle warriors are found by Orion.

GOOD

Orion funds the construction of a barracks for the Salvanna's Guard defending the village, providing an outpost for the guards.

BAD

An anti-paladin has been stalking the jungles between Salvanna's Oasis and Port Town, hunting paladins and putting their heads on pikes as warning signs. This has served as a deterrent to paladins traveling the road between the locations, a blatant threat against any paladin within the area.

PostSubject: Re: Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions]   Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions] EmptyWed Aug 03, 2016 12:46 am

The following are Logan's Contributions:

Good: Establishing Martha’s Vineyard. Special mix of Camusin berries and their special (anti-poison) counterpart

  • Working with Doake to trade to the mainland
  • Working with Daran Edermath (Edermath Orchard) to learn the trade

Good: Establish good relationship with a human barbarian tribe (Cheowakahl – Old Believers)

  • Tribe of the Jaguar; closest to Salvana’s Oasis; decimated by the dragon, Tezzicteca
  • Coryn uses his ability to turn into a jaguar to impress upon them his power. Discovers that Druids are exceptionally rare in the Qezcahal
  • Name of Leader: Ocelotl
  • Discovers that the Cheowakahl are all based on different animals and spiritual creatures of the Wild Growth. The most infamous is the Raptor Tribe (worship velociraptor)
  • Reverence for the Sylvar’rhem because they have their blood in them
  • Can teach the “Jungle Common” language

Bad: Pisses off a bunch of the Hunapu who were attacking the Tribe of the Jaguar. These Hunapu are a green dragon tribe with a brusque and aggressive leader who worships Tlalo-Ka. Their leader is a dragonborn who now has a personal hatred for Coryn and will seek him out.
Name: Metnal of the Bad Moon

PostSubject: Re: Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions]   Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions] EmptyWed Aug 03, 2016 12:46 am

DM Commentary:

It is my intent to take all of the responses here and incorporate them seamlessly into the story. To encourage future endeavors of this sort and get the players more included into the game, I am going to reward the efforts of each player.

Each individual that participates in the exercise above will be given a reward and if all players complete the 2 Good/1 Bad addition, I will grant additional XP based on level.

Finally, I have done the a version of the 2 Good/1 Bad myself but with only 1 Good. I figured since I'm already doing the story I don't need to do as much work (lazy). See below for all information. I will update this as others post their information in this chat.

Two Good, One Bad Rewards

Individual Rewards

Vaughn
: Free hireling (Seneschal)
- Additionally, the cost to recreate Salvana's Rest (the ruined manor house in the town) and reform it into a Trading Company is going to be equivalent to crafting a Guild Hall (5,000gp). See below for additional discounts.

Logan: Proficiency with Wine-Making Tool Set (Proficiency)
- Free use of a section of Edermath's Orchard to cultivate his own personal berry.

Jason:
-Additional note, Gorilla McFuckface is, in fact, called Jura; now called Jura Rok (Rok means King in the Kang language).
- Additional note, the Shrine of Whothefuckcares is in fact called the "Shrine of Luck" and is run by the Kaovish'rhem (Chaos elf) Sister Garaele. Very Happy I imagine Agrykos's shrine to be in some dark portion of the jungle between Salvana's Oasis and the cave home of the Kang'chagga from Game 2. Correct me if I am wrong.
- Additional note, the cost to build the [Adventuring House] will be about 2,500gp. I imagine it as something close to a Guild Hall, but more cozy and based on a "salon" or "gentlemen's club" in setting. See below for additional discounts on cost.

Kyle: Gains an official Citation (Favored by the Guard) which will grant a double proficiency bonus to all dealings with any NPC in Salvana's Oasis on military matters and all dealings with the city guard.
- Additional note, the paladin described above has been seen up and down the coast with allies. He calls himself Gahstellan the Lawkeeper and leads a group of men called the Bound Knights.
- Additionally, the cost to create the basic guard barracks in the town with the intent that it will be built to house more individuals as time moves forward, will be 1,000gp. See below for additional discounts.

Charlie:
-

Additional Discounts on Building
If the PCs are willing to utilize the magical axe, Hew, and clear out sections of the jungle forest near the town, its ability makes speedy work of the process. This grants a reduction on the cost of materials and will reduce the costs listed above by 25%. Keep in mind that this is likely to upset any local Sylvan creatures.

Group Reward
+# XP
Pending completion of above.

DM:
One Good, One Bad

Good #1: Tyrant’s Offer (The Lords of Qezcahal)

A priest named Jiorgan Kaster arrived from Port Town seeking the party in specific. He is an emissary of a newfound company formed by the old warrior Tyrant. The Lords of Qezcahal (Wild Growth), as they are tentatively named, seek like-minded individuals (adventurers) to band together in alliance. Tyrant hopes the PCs will come to Port Town at some point in the near-future to discuss the future of the company. In the meantime, Jiorgan hopes to sign the party as members on probation.

The priest is a half-elf sage and a servant of Knowledge who worships all aspects of such.

Tentative Charter
As the former military commander of the City Watch of Charm, Nexus of the World, Tyrant has a keen mind for order and organization. He has banded together with Jiorgan Kaster, Servant of Knowledge, and a few others to found The Lords of Qezcahal. The charter is still in flux as is the name of the group. The first fledgling rules are as follows:

  • Do not kill a member of the Lords
  • Come to one another's aid when able in matters of life and death
  • Band together when able to achieve common goals
  • Trade, buy, and sell from one another first when it comes to rare items and magic

OOC Purpose: The intent is to allow the players an ability to try out a different style of character without making a huge fuss in the story as to why a new character would appear. This also gives characters not in use something to "be doing" as the story progresses. I will determine on a case-by-case what happens to the characters that aren't used and how they level.

Bad: Cut-Off
The major pathways and roads between Salvana’s Oasis and Port Town have been beset by attackers from the sky. Individuals using strange flying balloons, magic, and riding giant vultures have been assaulting all traffic in the jungle between the two towns. The otherwise perilous 2 week journey has been all but cut-off in the wake of these assaults with only a few intrepid souls making it through. The group leading the attacks is believed to call themselves the Howling Hatred

NPCs Detailed Above

Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions] Ocelot10
Ocelotl, Chieftain of the Tribe of the Jaguar

Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions] Metnal10
Metnal of the Bad Moon, Leader of the Hunapu Tribe who worship Tlalo-Ka

PostSubject: Re: Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions]   Two Good, One Bad [Player Story Contributions] EmptyWed Aug 03, 2016 10:16 am

Good 1
While searching the surrounding woods and forest area for potion ingredients, crossed paths with another lost group of travelers that recently escaped from being enslaved by another, yet undiscovered, tribe of apelike people. Varik leads them back to the settlement so that they can rest there, as well as tell their tales. Varik spoke with barbarian Creegan out of the group about joining the newly formed fighter’s guild in the settlement.

Good 2
Varik has been spending what time he has not been using to search for more clues concerning the Elemental Eye, by helping out with training the untrained in sword combat for local militia and sparring to keep those that are comfortable with swordsmanship to keep skills sharp.

Bad 1
Despite best efforts, no new leads on elemental eye. Attempts to contact Dorn to relay recent findings about the symbol have also been unsuccessful. Hitting this wall and then finding his hand crossbow was ruined some time during the dragon fight, has Varik in a very distant mood. Even more recluse than usual as he scours to find some clue he must have missed along the way...
